Germany has taken a major step toward implementing the NIS2 Directive: on 13 November 2025, the Bundestag adopted the NIS2-UmsuCG, pushing the country into the final phase of alignment with EU cybersecurity rules. Although some regulatory details are still pending, it is now <strong>clear that companies must begin preparing immediately<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the Bundestag\u2019s Approval Means in Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Bundestag has approved the national NIS2 law, but this is not yet the final parliamentary step.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The overall regulatory framework is still being finalized.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The law is expected to enter into force between<strong> late 2025 and early 2026<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No <strong>transitional grace period<\/strong> \u2014 meaning obligations become active immediately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Happens Next?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Several steps remain before NIS2 becomes legally binding in Germany:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bundesrat review and approval<\/strong>, which may take weeks or months. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of<strong> BSI implementation rules<\/strong>, including detailed requirements for incident reporting, risk management, supply-chain security, and audit processes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possible <strong>sector-specific regulations<\/strong> for industries such as energy, healthcare, transport, and telecommunications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>formal entry-into-force announcement<\/strong>, expected in early 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>What Companies Must Do Now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even with details still emerging, the overall expectations for compliance are clear. Applicability Assessment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Determine whether the organization qualifies as an essential or important entity and identify which activities and suppliers fall under NIS2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Gap Analysis &amp; Risk Assessment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Identify missing controls, such as risk management processes, incident response procedures, supply-chain requirements, and required documentation (ISMS, IRP, DRP, supplier policies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.
